a nameless flower
a nameless flower hangs snapped in the dry stalks and grass by the curb
beaten by unexpected hail after pulling through the too-weak mild frost
isolated from the stalk, uncertainly severed, lost
the mass of plants too uniform and indistinct
it looks like a white-petaled daffodil, but the neighbors cluster gold and orange
classic hoods and trumpets
the shape is too twisted and caved in by wilting to tell
but i can't help but wonder, meaninglessly
where it fell from
